Mission Statement

It is the mission of the United States Probation Office for the Eastern District of Louisiana to insure the protection and safety of the community, to provide thorough and objective information to the courts, and to develop and enhance the capabilities of our staff.

We insure the protection and safety of the community through the enforcement of court-ordered conditions. The probation office offers casework services and treatment opportunities to offenders directed toward rehabilitation, focusing at all times on the accountability of the offender, reducing risks to the community, and achieving reparation for the victim. It is our mission to provide our offender population with the necessary guidance and assistance that will reduce recidivism and promote productivity.

We provide services to the court through the completion of thorough, timely, and accurate reports. We make informed decisions and recommendations to the court through appropriate assessments of the offender and statutory and guideline requirements. As officers of the court, we are dedicated to maintaining complete objectivity and upholding the highest professional standards in all services provided to the courts, attorneys, and other agencies. It is our mission to provide ongoing facilitative and consultative services to the court to assist the court in its decision-making processes.
